Today we had lots of fun on the IPads playing a state naming game....so 6W, here is the link:

My best is 50 states, with 3 minutes and 34 seconds remaining!
How many can you get and if you get all 50 how much time did you have left?!

The Sun is a mass of incandescent gas....
...a gigantic Nuclear furnace, where Hydrogen is built into Helium, at a temperature of millions of degrees...
This is just one of the MANY lines from 6W's favourite song about our biggest and most important source of light!
In fact this song is not only a favourite of 6W, I heard 6L singing this song too and it sounded AMAZING!
A year six scientific anthem, you might say!?
Apart from the fabulous scientific singing we've also been looking at reflecting light - take a look at our pictures. We've been bouncing light in all sorts of directions!
Trying to find the correct angles and getting the mirrors in the right places was difficult but we managed some pretty impressive reflections!

Inside the mind of 6W
On friday we looked at this poem about the goings on inside a boy's head...
A BOY’S HEAD
In it there is a space-ship
and a project
for doing away with piano lessons.
And there is
Noah’s ark,
which shall be first.
And there is
an entirely new bird,
an entirely new hare,
an entirely new bumble-bee.
There is a river
that flows upwards.
There is a multiplication table.
There is anti-matter.
And it just cannot be trimmed.
I believe
that only what cannot be trimmed
is a head.
There is much promise
in the circumstance
that so many people have heads.
It made us think about our own thoughts; what would it look like inside our heads?
We've been working hard on creating images through our poems and we've written some very descriptive poetry.
Here are some pictures of our thoughts...this is what we think it looks like inside our heads...

6W, I'd love to share some of your poetry with our blogging community.
We'll have a class blog meeting ASAP!

Remembering...
On Monday we began our work towards remembrance day and on Friday we will join our community at Stechford war memorial.
We have begun making our own poppy wreaths, which feature messages of thanksgiving and rememberance, we will be placing them on the memorial during Friday's service.
We remember, we are thankful, we will never forget...

Half Term Homework
The children in year 6 were given a literacy project to complete over half term.
The children were asked to write a biography about someone famous, who had helped others.
There were some fabulous written projects, some beautifully designed projects completed on the computer and some powerpoint presentations.
Here is one created by Hollie, she wrote up her biography, recorded it and put it with a powerpoint presentation.
A big thanks to Hollie's Dad who spent a long time getting Hollie's powerpoint ready for the blog!

Year of faith
Sorry about the delay...
This question should have been posted right after school...And I did! I posted it, but we all know how our class computer likes to make Miss Willis cross! Grrrrr!
Anyway, your challenge -
In the year of faith, the Archbishop of Birmingham has asked us to celebrate under whose patronage?
What can you tell our blogging community about this person?
